Background
Jon spent 14 years as a Royal Marine Commando during which time he operated and exercised in many different environments within the world from within the Arctic Circle to the Far East. The latter years of his career were as a Physical Training Instructor where he sub-specialised as an adventurous training instructor, which saw him teaching climbing, canoeing and mountain biking in the UK and Europe. Whilst working at the Commando Training Centre, he was chosen to be the PTI for “Commando on the Frontline”, a documentary following the path of the recruits throughout their training and beyond.
He has played competitive sport from a young age and has competed at the highest level within the Armed Forces in many disciplines including athletics, cross-country, indoor rowing, rugby, climbing and kayaking. He has competed several times in the National Dragon Boat Championships and away from the Marines he has competed in mountain biking, adventure racing and running events.
