IV Therapies

Medicines given by injection produce high blood levels, bypassing the uncertainties of oral absorption.

By saturating the body stores with water soluble nutrients, the body is given a chance to optimise healing and detoxifying response. A body in optimal nutritional balance responds better to biomechanical treatment, this is commonly noted both by patients and practitioners.

Combinations of vitamins and minerals such as the Meyer’s protocol are commonly used as clinically appropriate

What is it good for?

Optimum cellular nutrition maximises the healing of viral infections, chronic fatigue states and wound/tissue healing. Specifically, intravenous vitamin C is clinically noted to provide rapid resolution of acute mononucleosis (glandular fever). High performance athletes can improve recovery times (post exercise) by optimising cellular nutritional balance.

What happens in a consultation?

Medical history will be taken by the doctor on the initial consultation to assess suitability for intravenous therapy and to prescribe according to the patients’ individual need. Intravenous therapy will be administered by the Registered Nurse who has many years of experience of intravenous therapies. The patient will be clinically monitored throughout the procedure.

Most treatments will last 30-60 minutes but it may be that in specific cases longer treatments may be necessary. A course of infusions (3-6) is commonly required to overcome severe viral infections such as glandular fever.

Preparation and Requirements

Patients feel more comfortable in general having had a reasonable meal prior to treatment. It is recommended to bring a small protein based snack (such as nuts) to remain comfortable during infusion therapy.

Patients should also be well hydrated.
