Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP explores how we look at the world and provides us with strategies we can use to unlock our potential and to feel and function well in any situation so that we can achieve our goals.

Richard Bandler and John Grinder sowed the seeds of NLP in the 1970s. They studied the working methods of successful therapists, most notably Milton Erickson (master hypnotherapist) and Virginia Satir (family therapist), to create a framework for studying subjective experiences. This approach aims to model excellence in all areas of life. Techniques are developed that can be used verbally and non-verbally focusing on creating rapport and developing behavioural flexibility.

NLP works by initiating changes of state and thinking and observing and understanding body language. In this country over the last ten years, training courses have markedly increased and with them the number of practitioners.

What is it good for?

Changing beliefs that support unhealthy habits, such as smoking or drug misuse, and enhancing presentation skills and public speaking. Depression and weight loss also respond well to treatment. These changes can alter physiology and bring about physical healing by lifting limiting beliefs to create a more resourceful state of mind. This leads to personal and professional development.

NLP is incredibly effective in all areas of personal development - health, work and life.

What happens in a consultation?

The first consultation focuses on personal history and an introduction to NLP. Subsequent visits help the client set achievable goals, and create positive strategies for the future in the pursuit of excellence.
