Introduction
Reflexology has been practiced for thousands of years and has its origins in China and Egypt. It has since extended further to parts of the Far East and India, but only recently has it reached wider societies.
Many people now use reflexology as part of their own personal healthcare, even if not suffering from any particular disease. There are approximately 5,000 practitioners registered with the Association of Reflexologies, being trained at 80 accredited schools.
What is it good for?
Preparation pre-conception, pregnancy and post-natal care, insomnia, digestive problems (such as irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and cramps), pain (headache, back pain), and hormonal imbalances such as pre menstrual syndrome, menopause and fibroids. It can also help boost the immune system and eliminate toxins.
What happens in a consultation?
At the appointment: As clients are treated holistically (as a whole person) diet and life style will also be looked at. For about 45 minutes the client will have an uninterrupted treatment, and then the practitioner and client will talk about possible problem areas, and lifestyle alterations. The massage is a deep massage of the feet but can be hands if desired a light massage oil is applied. You will retain your clothes but uncover the feet, ankles and lower leg.
After the treatment: Plan a quiet evening in after treatment as you may feel sleepy and relaxed. Drink about 2 pints of water after a treatment to avoid/ reduce aches and pains.
Preparation and Requirements
Before the treatment it is best advised to avoid having a big meal or empty stomach as well as alcohol before or after the treatment. Hygiene is important, you may prefer to shower prior to appt or wash your feet in the case of Reflexology. Please cover any wounds before appointment. If you are pregnant or suffer from epilepsy, various veins, poor circulation or any health issues that may affect you treatment please inform us before hand.
