TCA (Tri-chloric Acid) is a chemical peel.
It was first described in the medical literature in 1941 by Eller and Wolff for its use on blemishes and pitted scars on the face.
Since then the induction for use has been refined and expanded.
What is it good for?
It has been safely used and effectively treats acne scarring, sun spots, sun damage, blotchy skin, age spots, lines and wrinkles and all of the signs of photo ageing that occur on the face, hands, neck, décolleté, scalp and body.
What happens in a consultation?
TCA is used to penetrate the upper layer of the skin to produce a removal off the epidermis and upper layers of the Dermis
Classification of the peel depends according to the depth of penetration the peels fall into three main classifications
Superficial - Will treat the upper layers (epidermis) of the skin and produce a light peel
Medium depth peels - Will treat the upper layer of the skin (epidermis) and those upper layers of the Dermis
Deep peels – Will treat the Upper and mid layers of the of the Dermis
Your peel and treatment protocols will be tailored to suit the condition you are seeking to improve.
During your consultation your Practitioner will discuss the type of peel to be used and the after care regime that you must follow.
Preparation and Requirements
TCA peels are carried out by a trained dermatology nurse in at 15% and there will be peeling like a mild sunburn for a few days.
